Special Events: One Book, One Town

THE EAGLE CATCHER was the book to read in Carbondale, Colorado this July. The novel was selected for the town's first "One Book, One Town – Everybody Reads." The idea was for everybody in the community – a beautiful mountain community adjacent to Aspen – to read the same novel and take part in discussions and workshops about the story and the characters. One hundred flyers went up all over town advertising the novel. And articles and reviews appeared in the local newspapers.

The local bookstore not only sold out of The Eagle Catcher but also sold out of the other novels in the series. The library had ordered 65 copies of The Eagle Catcher, all of which were checked out and had waiting lists.

Margaret spoke at the Gordon Cooper Library on Friday evening, July 16. "It was a very lively discussion," she says, "since everybody had read the novel and had also read many of the other novels. So people had a lot of wonderful comments about Father John and Vicky and their adventures on the reservation. It was great fun."

There will be a town picnic in September where everyone is invited to come and discuss The Eagle Catcher.
